Synopsys is a leading software company in the world, with its traditional roots in EDA and IP. Progressively, the business expanded to embrace cybersecurity. We work with the client as its lead agency, managing APAC (focusing on ASEAN, with periods manging China and Australasia), with full-spectrum public relations media training, and other additional services.

Challenge: There is tremendous competition for audio products, especially against major brands and stalwarts that have spent the last 20 years entrenched with mass market marketing and campaigns. At the same time, as a distributor, the client has limited marketing resources.
Successes: We have helped the client garner tremendous media coverage, and also successful media attendance at media listening events and launches, and collaborative events with other partners. Challenge: In its early years, Internet security was emerging and yet competitive, with quite a few competing vendors reaching out to the same audiences and the same media. At the same time, Internet security was perceived by some to be “optional”, and the underlying technology needed expertise to explain well.

Universal Robots (UR) is part of the multinational giant Teradyne, and UR is famed for its industry-leading collaborative robots (cobots), which complement the human workforce in many operations, from factory floors, to retail, to medicine and more.

HIMA is a leading German industrial safety and security solutions company, with field-proven solutions in oil and gas, chemical, energy, and rail transportation.

Challenge: Smart safety, industrial safety, and industrial cybersecurity, are all challenging topics that are difficult to attract media attention, especially in mainstream media. At the same time, industrial safety trade media are not common in this region.

VillageSmith

VillageSmith and Superheroes Inc are brand entities specializing in customized gifts, genuine 4-leaf clover souvenirs, and true laser engraving services. They are also licensed comic souvenir makers, such as mobile phone cases for iPhone®, Samsung® and others. We have assisted the companies in various parts of creative direction, graphic design and production, digital media, PR counsel, and more recently, with its revamp of its web and e-commerce presence.

Challenge: The retail front for gifts, souvenirs, and mobile phone accessories is very saturated, with many even offering similar products and services.
Successes: Since its early days, we have helped the company in various cost-effective creative print campaigns in mainstream media, event collaterals, point-of-sale (POS) print collaterals, including collaterals for overseas exhibitions. More recently, we have assisted the company in moving towards social media, interactive media, and e-commerce, to counter the challenges on the retail front and the need for consistent branding. HST Medical is a Singapore-based health supplements company, with products such as Rheuma-Salve, ZooVites kids vitamins, and so on. The group also owns the Heritage TCM Clinic and Essentials Pharmacy. HST stands for “Higher, Stronger and Together”.

Challenge: The group faced tremendous competition in a very heated ecosystem, and against an antiquated channel and distribution system. At the same time, brand recognition was very low. The brand has an ineffective website and a dismal Facebook page.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand and its products, in multi-channel 360 marketing, including PR (getting its spokespersons on broadcast, print and online), building a content blog, converging older websites into a new website with better SEO, at https://hstmedical.com. We launched the brand’s first outdoor advertising campaigns, including roadshows with an outdoor advertising company, and conceptualizing and launching the brand’s first bus-stop digital panel advertising campaigns. We also manage the brand’s Facebook page, curate and edit content for the page, and building a following to complement the new website. We helped the client strategize along the entire creative supply chain, including creating the new moniker “Higher, Stronger, Together” to stand for HST. We also helped the client manage social media, web, and PR communication during the COVID-19 crisis. As we progressed with the client, we managed to increase the annual revenue base to even greater than pre-COVID in 2022. DTAP Clinic Group (Republic Healthcare) is a unique Singapore medical group that is spreading its wings region-wide, with general practitioner (GP) plus services that include aesthetics, reproductive health, and anonymous HIV testing services. It is public listed in the HKSAR stock exchange.

Challenge: The group needed a professional and dedicated team to assist its management team in public relations (PR) and provide media training and crisis preparedness for its team.
Successes: Since the start of working with the client, we helped the client secure major and mainstream media coverage on broadcast (TV and radio), print (newspapers and magazines), and online. We trained the entire team of physicians and managers on media training and crisis preparedness. We also helped the team edit content written by their physicians for editorial requirements and readability.


Anello

Anello is one of the iconic Japanese bag brands that has spread its wings across the world, and its first store opened at Jewel Changi Airport.

Challenge: The brand was to open its first store at Jewel Changi Airport, which is located at the far eastern side of Singapore. Generally, journalists and influencers are not likely to venture to a far-flung location in Singapore for a media launch.
Successes: We helped the client with the media launch, inviting key journalists and influencers to attend the event, and also helped facilitate all the media interviews to ensure the mainstream and other journalists were properly taken care of, as the client’s spokespersons mainly spoke Japanese. The event was a resounding success and the Japanese headquarters commended our team for the great event and coverage.


Dataiku

Dataiku is an AI and ML company from France. We served the regional representative for a media launch event, with a room of journalists. We pitched the client in 2018 when AI/ML was nowhere near the hype and frenzy it became FIVE years later.

KEF is a hifi brand from the UK since 1961, which started from BBC UK audio engineering. It offers a broad range of ultra high resolution and high end audio products, intelligent audio products, and professionally designed consumer hifi audio products.

HealthPlus (Parkway Health)

HealthPlus is a specialty medical content portal belonging to the Parkway Health Group (Mount Elizabeth Hospital), with useful medical information for everyone.

Challenge: Health portals are many, and health information has limited appeal to the mainstream media, syndication sites, and face very stringent restrictions.
Successes: Despite the many challenges, we managed to get very consistent results for the client. Managed many internal teambuilding and social events, including the setting up of a registration website for their events.


Plantronics

Plantronics is a leading audio communications vendor for the enterprise and consumer markets today, providing Bluetooth™-enabled headsets, wired headsets, and other associated solutions for the office, for the SOHO, and for individuals. Separately, Altec Lansing is a producer of high fidelity audio equipment for music and entertainment, and was at one time, part of Plantronics. We have worked with Plantronics, and for a period, Altec Lansing as well, helping the clients reach out to the South East Asia markets. We continue to work with Plantronics today, providing full-spectrum PR and marcomm, media training, consumer and media events, social media, online web and e-commerce presence, and other additional services. Challenge: The wireless and wired headset market in the enterprise space is not often covered in the general media, while the consumer media is fiercely competed for by many consumer headsets.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand and its products comprehensively in Singapore and the region. We have tapped on a whole arsenal of PR, innovative and ground-breaking events, unique direct marketing ideas, social and mobile media, to help the client become one of the premium audio communication brands around. We have also helped the client establish online social media and e-commerce presence, as well as new video content delivery for the media. Some of the innovative events included media events out at sea, on hydro entertainment venues, regional themed launches, influencer (blogger) events, and live-streaming of media launches. We also developed an online ecommerce website during the relationship.


Zepp

Zepp live music halls are famous in Japan as the go-to venues for musicians from around the world. Zepp@BIGBOX is the first Zepp hall outside of Japan.

Challenge: Zepp as a brand is a virtual unkown in Singapore, even though it has a successful lineage in Japan in the music scene. Located in the west side of Singapore, which was not traditionally known for cultural venues and entertainment. There was also a time crunch due to the limited time to launch.
Successes
: With the time crunch, we were able to help the client garner good media coverage, and also manage the hundreds of trade attendees from the music and entertainment industry (many of whom are from Japan). We managed the press conference to a roomful of journalists, and also orchestrated a “backstage tour” just for the journalists to explain every facility and equipment the Zepp live music hall has, and put together image and video assets for the launch.


SITEX

SITEX is organized by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) and managed by SingEx Exhibitions Pte Ltd. SITEX 2016 ran from 24 to 27 November 2016, at Singapore EXPO, Halls 5 and 6. We were appointed as project PR agency by SingEx.

Challenge: There is tremendous competition for IT-related consumer shows in Singapore, and with an ever-shrinking media pie, it was a challenge to garner as much local media coverage as desired by the client.
Successes: We have helped the client garner tremendous media coverage, and also great media attendance at the show as well. We got the client a national TV coverage in a multi-channel news segment, on highlights of the show.


ASICS

ASICS is the leading sports footwear and apparel company, with a focus on serious sports science and product development. We provide the company with PR and media event services, and support their regional PR programs as well.

Coast Cycles

Coast Cycles is a local Singapore bicycle brand, with bespoke bicycles designed by local bike designer Jansen Tan. Coast & Company is the showroom, workshop and mini-cafe, catering to the sales and demonstration of the Coast Cycles range of products and accessories. We helped launch the brand to the local media and influencers, as well as community groups through various events.

Challenge: The bicycle market in Singapore is very vibrant, and increasingly competitive.
Successes: We helped to launch the brand through local media, through earned media in print (dailies, magazines), broadcast, and online media, as well as reach out to community stakeholders and influencers (e.g. prominent bloggers). We also took care of its social media with content strategy and population. We helped the brand gain the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its Quinn bicycle design in 2015. We also helped the client with its first debut at the Interbike 2015 in Las Vegas, NV, USA. We produced some professional event videos with professional cine and stabilized video cameras.


Nakamichi

Signeo (Sprintcass) is the distributor for brands such as Soul and Nakamichi headphones and earphones. We have worked with Signeo to bring about awareness for the Soul and Nakamichi high-fidelity audio products since 2011. We provide full-spectrum public relations and marketing communication, media training, consumer and media events, and other additional services. We have helped Signeo establish the Soul and Nakamichi brands in the media and the public mindshare. We also help the client with other product publicity, including successful outreach of its Energizer mobile chargers.

Galderma is a leading dermatological brand in the world. We served its B2B business in B2B and B2C PR, as well as offering our microsite and video documentary production services.

Challenge: B2B PR for these products was challenging due to many regulatory restrictions placed on reaching out and advertising such products to the public, as well as some earlier issues prior to our engagement.
Successes: We took on the tough challenge of finding innovative ways of reaching out to the media through the production of a trackable microsite with professionally produced video documentary short films talking about various skin conditions and potential treatments and care from medical professionals. The footage were shot on Blackmagic Design professional cine cameras we own internally in our labs/studio, and then post-produced on Apple Final Cut Pro X (FCPX).


Sin Kwang Optical

First helped leading optical eyewear distributor Sin Kwang Optical break into the cinema advertising space, for their distributed eyewear brand Emporio Armani. Used AVID NLE (non-linear editor) to edit custom animations and then encoded for cinema advertising. We have served this comprehensive and established eyewear distributor reach out to the trade and mass media, through print, broadcast, online, social media, and events. Eyewear brands we work on include ELLE, Escada, Esprit, POLICE, Angry Birds, Charmant, Rodenstock, BALLY, David Yurman, Dunhill, Judith Leiber, Kata, LANVIN, Braun Buffel, Mercedes Benz, Porsche Design, Trussardi, Converse, Puma, and more.

Challenge: Reach out to general and vertical media, as well as the public, competing against other name brands in a rather crowded optical market space.
Successes: Helped the client break into the cinema advertising arena with a custom campaign that reached out to wide audiences at that time. Codenomicon (acquired by Synopsys) was a leading Finnish enterprise and Internet security company with specialized tools for vulnerability testing. Challenge: Vulnerability testing is a very specialized field and the client’s highly technical team needed help to translate their domain knowledge into digestible bits for the public and the media.
Successes: We have helped the client reach out successfully to the media, including broadcast coverage for this highly specialized field (national TV and national radio), on the Heartbleed SSL vulnerability that the client co-identified, as well as other serious vulnerabilities that may affect many global businesses.


ABLE

Worked with the leadership of the non-profit ABLE, a member of Caritas Singapore, the social mission arm of the Catholic Church in Singapore. The non-profit serves people with physical challenges and their caregivers with services such as rehabilitation, training, respite care, wheelchair-accessible transport, as well as a social enterprise that places employment for people with physical challenges.

Challenge: From its inception as a unique boat shoe with a unique material, and a marketing budget spent on vertical media and PR, the brand needed a lot of persuasion to the media, especially the fashion media.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand and its products comprehensively in Singapore (and lending our expertise to the region), since its inception here. From the beginning, despite the onslaught of criticism and negativity against such a unique product, we were able to position the client very effectively and helped the client secure a successful inroad in the retail market. We have tapped on a whole arsenal of public relations, innovative and ground-breaking events, unique direct marketing ideas, outdoor advertising (bus advertising, taxi cab advertising, mass transit outdoor panel advertising, etc), given the constraints, and later on, social and mobile media, to help the client become one of the recognizable fashion and lifestyle footwear brands in Singapore. For many of the campaigns, we took it from concept, to every step of the process (including fashion model casting, photography, videography, styling, etc). We drew out the technical strengths of the materials of the footwear, the funky and unique look of its products, celebrity endorsements from USA, and so on. We also trained their top spokespersons for media interviews, and their regional chief executive was interviewed on the likes of top business TV channel CNBC for feature programs.


Swensen’s

Swensen’s Restaurants are part of ABR Holdings Ltd, and include the likes of Gloria Jean Coffee and Earle Swensen’s. We provided full-spectrum PR and marketing communication, media training, media events, and other additional services, for Swensen’s restaurants, Oishi launch, Gloria Jean, and Earle Swensen’s. ILOG (IBM)

ILOG, now an IBM company, is a leading provider of business rule management system (BRMS) solutions, visualization and optimization software. We served ILOG when it was an independent company, and when it was acquired by IBM, providing full-spectrum services in public relations, advertising management, marketing communication, trade events, etc. We have helped the client reach out to trade media and mass media, explaining challenging technical concepts and ideas and translating them into digestible ideas for the media and the public. ILOG was a unique software vendor that had great technologies, and we were able to articulate the complex concepts successfully to many media channels, including broadcast media for its top executives. Intermec

Intermec (acquired by Honeywell in 2014) was a leading vendor of enterprise supply chain hardware and software solutions. We served the client with full-spectrum services in PR, advertising management, marketing communication, trade events, etc. We have helped the client reach out to trade media and mass media, explaining challenging technical concepts and ideas and translating them into digestible ideas for the media and the public. We helped develop many customer case study papers for placements as well.

Challenge: In those years, network security software was still seen by some as optional, and there were much software lapses in adoption, and the market was beginning to be saturated by large and small market players competing for the same media space and public mindshare. Additionally, the client was very large with many diverse business sectors, which required much more effort to pitch specific network security angles.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand, its solutions and its presence to fortify the client with an image of enterprise expertise in antivirus and network security, against more aggressive stalwarts and other emerging companies in the same marketplace.


ACE BlueSky Festival

Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) is a Singapore government initiative (through SPRING Singapore) to help emerging and growing local enterprises in Singapore reach out to the mass market and trade segments. SPRING Singapore’s ACE organized the BlueSky Festival to celebrate and highlight growing and exciting enterprises in Singapore. We worked with the initiative in its inception for its very exciting BlueSky Festival, to bring awareness through the media and the public event, to the general public and trade audiences.

Challenge: In those years, antivirus software was still seen by some as optional, and there were much software lapses in adoption, and the market was beginning to be saturated by large and small market players competing for the same media space and public mindshare.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand, its solutions and its presence throughout the region, building steadily an image of grounded and proven expertise in antivirus and content security. One of the unique campaigns was a custom short film conceptualized, developed, filmed, post-produced entirely by our own team using a Hi8 camcorder, about a science lab infiltrated by a computer virus. The short film was shown before a large audience in a Singapore government-led public and trade seminar, putting the client in a prominent and leading-edge space ahead of its competition. Video remains one of our pioneering strengths, from those days of analog video to web and live streaming video today.

Interbrand is one of the foremost branding consultancies in the world. We provided full-spectrum PR and media training for the client. Successes: Established a product web site for the client in the early days of the commercial Internet, with comprehensive details for its entire enterprise networking range of products. We also built a simple website for their networking equipment.


PeopleSoft

PeopleSoft (merged with JD Edwards, then acquired by Oracle in 2005) was a leading enterprise resource and human resource management solutions company. We served PeopleSoft in its launch of an enterprise solution in 1996, through a PR and media event, with the delivery of digital media kits (we are a pioneer in interactive media and digital media kits since the 1990s).

Asian Business Press

Served Asian Business Press (ABP), the leading trade publisher at that time, which published Asia Computer Weekly (ACW) and Asia Pacific Telecoms (APT), two of the leading trade publications then. Developed the printed media kits for the 2 publications. ABP then transitioned to Miller-Freeman Asia, then CMP Media Asia, before becoming UBM Asia to focus on trade events and conferences under the United Business Media PLC (UBM).

Challenge: Bring out the best way to communicate with trade customers in why the trade media is an important marketing ally in a fierce and competitive media arena, and to persuade trade customers to invest marketing dollars with the trade media rather than spreading out to general media.
Successes: Helped the sales and editorial team refine and re-design the media kits for 2 of its leading trade publications in computing and telecommunications, so that the intended messaging reaches out more effectively to the trade customers (often marketing directors/managers of computer and telecommunication companies) and persuade them to spend appropriate marketing budgets with the trade publications instead of elsewhere.

SunSoft

Developed print advertising and interactive communication programs for SunSoft, a division of Sun Microsystems managing the high-performance server-class operating system Solaris and associated developer tools (now part of Oracle) in the 1990s. We were pioneers in developing interactive media for PR and marketing, using Macromedia Director (Adobe). We developed interactive press kits and trade show demos. Some of the products launched included Solaris™ X86, SolarNet™, etc. We also created original custom illustrations for the print advertising campaigns.

Challenge: Although Sun Microsystems was a large entity, SunSoft, its specialized software division, was not so well known yet. Its solutions were vertical and specialized, and required expertise to explain to both trade and general media.
Successes: Pioneered and developed interactive press kits and demos for the client, which were novel in those days, on 3.5-inch floppy disks for the media and trade users. The trade media became more familiar with the client and there were extensive media coverage for the client, despite being in a high-end, enterprise computing segment unfamiliar to many non-programmers. Also launched various trade print advertising campaigns successfully for trade events.


Mitsubishi Electric

We served the displays and dye-sublimation printers divisions of Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO) in Singapore, for their publicity programs, in the 1990s. Today, the division is known a Mitsubishi Electric Visual Information Systems division. Other than helping Mitsubishi Electric in developing trade and consumer print advertising campaigns, we have also developed custom interactive and self-running demo apps for their trade events. We used Macromedia Director/Flash (Adobe) for many of the interactive displays.

Challenge: MELCO was a specialized division specializing in high-end business products and did not then, enjoy the same level of public recognition.
Successes: Helped client establish the brand as high-end displays in a challenging market segment, since large-size displays were prohibitively expensive then, through public relations in the trade and general media, and through reaching out the trade and general audiences in specialized trade events. The client showcased successfully its industrial-grade displays and other computing peripherals throughout Singapore trade and mass market segments. We built a simple website for the client during 1996, the pioneer commercial Internet year.


Crystal Jade Restaurant

When the founders of the Crystal Jade Restaurant started in Cairnhill, Singapore, one of our founders helped with the creative direction and copywriting of many of its early advertising campaigns, from print advertisements in Chinese and English dailies, to radio campaigns in Chinese. We are proficient in Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and is able to serve the restaurant’s founders.

Challenge: An upstart restaurant with limited marketing resources, competing in a fierce, well-established market.
Successes: Helped client reach out to a saturated Chinese restaurant market in Singapore. The advertising campaigns were direct, targeted, and effective. Through reaching out to the media through public relations, we were able to persuade the media to experience the authentic Cantonese cuisine of the restaurant. The restaurant went on to become a successful restaurant chain with many restaurant outlets throughout Singapore.
