MAN Truck & Bus (MAN SE) is one of Europe’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and providers of transport solutions, including vans, trucks, buses, diesel and gas engines, as well as services related to passenger and freight transport. MAN SE, a Volkswagen SE company and part of the Volkswagen Group, employs approximately 33,000 people worldwide. Challenge: Transportation solutions, even though a consumer offering such as buses, can be difficult to pitch to the media. This is also against a media climate where global politics and conflicts dominate the space within the same narrow time frame when such news has to be pitched.
Successes: We have helped the client and its partner in Singapore reach out to some of the Tier 1 (or above Tier 1) mainstream media and managed to secure high quality and dominant coverage in 3 of the national dailies, as well as its associated internationally read online versions and also other media.

Universal Robots
Universal Robots (UR) is part of the multinational giant Teradyne, and UR is famed for its industry-leading collaborative robots (cobots), which complement the human workforce in many operations, from factory floors to retail to medicine and more.

Challenge: Collaborative Robots (cobots) are a unique category of robots, unlike larger industrial robots, and needed special outreach to the media and the public to explain such concepts and applications. Also, industrial applications tend to be niche and in this part of the world, it is more challenging to find media traction.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand, its solutions and its presence throughout the region in the crisis year of 2020 to now, with mainstream and trade media coverage throughout the region, with successes in creating brand and product presence in the category of Cobots, in industrial automation, healthcare (especially in a crisis), food and beverage applications, etc. Recent coverage also include Tier 1 coverage on international TV.

Challenge: Smart safety, industrial safety, and industrial cybersecurity are all challenging topics that are difficult to attract media attention to, especially in mainstream media. At the same time, industrial safety trade media are not common in this region.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand, its solutions, and its presence throughout the region, reaching out to mainstream and trade media to explain the importance of industrial safety and related cybersecurity in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, energy, rail, and transportation sectors. We have also helped launch their regional Customer Solutions Center (CSC), which was concurrently opened in Singapore with their equivalent center in Germany.

ILOG (IBM)
ILOG, now an IBM company, is a leading provider of business rule management system (BRMS) solutions, visualization and optimization software. We served ILOG when it was an independent company and when it was acquired by IBM, providing full-spectrum services in public relations, advertising management, marketing communication, trade events, etc. We have helped the client reach out to trade media and mass media, explaining challenging technical concepts and ideas and translating them into digestible ideas for the media and the public. Challenge: Business rules, data visualization and optimization are vertical topics that are often passed over by the general media and even some trade media.
Successes: We have helped the client establish its brand, its solutions and its presence throughout the region, building steadily an image of rock-solid expertise in high-end visualization, business optimization, and business rule management (BRM). ILOG was a unique software vendor that had great technologies, and we were able to articulate the complex concepts successfully to many media channels, including broadcast media for its top executives. When ILOG was acquired by IBM, we continued to serve the ILOG team within the auspices of IBM for a period of time.
Schneider Electric
Schneider Electric and its subsidiary, APC, are leaders in smart energy and data center solutions. We served the client in PR for trade and mass media, trade events, media training, and marketing communication.

Invensys
Invensys (acquired by Schneider Electric in 2014) was a noted factory and plant operation controls and automation company in the world. We provided full-spectrum PR, media training, events, and other additional services for the client.

Intermec (acquired by Honeywell in 2014) was a leading vendor of enterprise supply chain hardware and software solutions. We served the client with full-spectrum services in PR, advertising management, marketing communication, trade events, etc. We have helped the client reach out to trade media and mass media, explaining challenging technical concepts and ideas and translating them into digestible ideas for the media and the public. Challenge: Service quality leadership is mandatory and challenging in a fiercely-competitive industrial field, and relevant development programs need to be highly customized.
Successes: Helped the client develop a customized service quality and customer service HRD program for training its entire organization with a pre-delivery audit and post-training audit. The enlightened management of the client involved its entire organization to enhance customer service to its industrial customers.
KRONE
Helped leading German structured cabling provider KRONE (later acquired by ADC, then CommScope) develop communication materials and interactive media kits in the 1990s.

Challenge: Structured cabling is seen as “peripheral” when compared to the foreground of other exciting computing technologies such as CPUs, software and mobile devices.
Successes: Pioneered and developed interactive press kits and demos for the client, which were novel in those days, on 3.5-inch floppy disks for the media and trade users. The demo floppy disks helped secure comprehensive media coverage in trade and other media for the client. It also helped the client reach out to trade customers and the public with PR and print communication. We built a simple website for the client during the pioneer commercial Internet year.
OTIS Elevator
I worked with the Human Resource Development (HRD) head of OTIS Elevator Singapore to develop employee development communication and training programs, including printed materials and interactive media (computer-based training, or CBT). We have core expertise in HRD and leadership development that puts us in a unique space compared to traditional communication firms. OTIS Elevator is part of the multinational United Technologies Company.
