Recently, the world media was abuzz about a certain footballer who bit another on the soccer field, and seemed to have gotten away with it. After all, he has done that a couple of times before, and was never permanently barred from playing professionally (i.e. getting big paychecks).

All too often, there are two sides to the employment equation – employers, and employees. There will always be a tussle weighing remuneration against contribution, and perception versus reality.

Extreme dieting is unhealthy and even dangerous. Likewise, in corporate environments, extreme dieting is unhealthy and potentially crippling.
While businesses and owner-managers are fighting tooth and nail in an increasingly difficult economy (and worsening), they would need to put everything under the microscope to see how best to move their businesses forward, even if painfully.

Decades ago, when I was entrenched in total quality management (TQM) and service quality, everyone seemed to be hynoptized by the concept of “the customer is always right”. The war cry of the day at that time, especially by frontline managers and task managers, was to bark down at frontliners to deliver service with the motto of “the customer is always right”.
